Siara Digital
Overview
Siara Digital was a real-time fintech platform that helped Canadian consumers pre-qualify for vehicle financing by combining live credit data, dealer-specific rate sheets, and vehicle details into a single, automated flow.
ROL owned all technical delivery — architecture, third-party integrations, automated onboarding, identity verification, and the API layer connecting the platform to dealership management systems. The platform went from concept to acquisition in under eighteen months.
Siara was acquired by a Canadian automotive group in 2024.
Problem / Brief
The vehicle financing process in Canada was opaque and adversarial. Consumers didn't know what rate they'd qualify for until they were already sitting in a dealership's finance office — at which point switching costs were high and leverage was low.
The brief was to move the qualifying step earlier in the journey: give consumers a real pre-qualification number, based on real credit data, before they walked onto a lot. For dealers, the benefit was higher-intent customers arriving with financing expectations already calibrated.
The integration complexity was significant. Every dealership management system has a different API, different rate sheet format, and different compliance requirements. The platform needed to abstract all of that behind a consumer-facing experience that felt simple.
The goal was to shift power in a transaction that was structurally designed to favor the dealer. Transparency at the top of the funnel.
Approach
We built a normalized integration layer that could ingest rate sheets from the major DMS providers and translate them into a common format the platform could reason about. Adding a new dealership integration was a configuration exercise, not an engineering one.
Identity verification and credit bureau integration ran as a background process — the consumer answered questions and the platform ran checks asynchronously, surfacing a pre-qualification number in real time rather than making users wait for a result.
The compliance surface was significant. We worked with legal counsel on every province's disclosure requirements and built those directly into the flow — the platform adapted its language and consent flows based on the user's province.
Outcome
The platform launched in Ontario in 2023 and expanded to additional provinces before acquisition. The acquiring automotive group saw the platform as infrastructure for their own financing operations and dealership network.
Siara was acquired in 2024. The codebase and integrations transferred as part of the acquisition.
The Siara build validated ROL's ability to take on complex, regulated technical problems with significant third-party integration surface — a capability that directly informed how we approach subsequent client work.
